Biography

Patrice Evra is a Senegalese –born footballer that plays for Manchester United since the 2006 season. Born in Dakar of a diplomat father, Patrice Evra joins Europe very young.

In the suburbs of Paris, he is associated with Thierry Henry. Few French clubs are interested in him at this point in time, which will force him to leave the country and try his luck in Italy.

Patrice Evra will sign in the third division for € 800 a month before joining Monza Series B next season. Playing as a winger Evra will manage to score 6 goals in 27 appearances for the club

At last he will be noticed by the French team OGC Nice and this will allow him to discover French football at the age 19. There he will be playing as a centre forward but some injuries will cause him to play as left back.  Evra will make a name for himself there and he will be named Ligue 2’s best left back.

In 2002 Evra will join Monaco where his career will take a significant leap forward. Under the guidance of Didier Deschamps, Patrice Evra will form one of the best defenses in Europe together with Sebastien Squillaci and Gael Givet. He will also form part of the great Monaco run during the 2003/2004 season.

Patrice Evra will leave AS Monaco in January 2006 to join Manchester United. In England Evra will quickly adapt himself becoming a regular among the first team. He will also obtain the best left-back award  this season and will push Gabriel Heinze out of the team.

The 2007/2008 season is the same ilk for Patrice Evra. With Manchester United, carried by a talented Cristiano Ronaldo ,Patrice Evra wins Premier League and Champions League. Indeed during this season he will make 47 appearances for the Red Devils.

During the 2009-2010 season, Evra has been outstanding and will also get the chance to captain the side in the absence of the other core players. And in February 2010, he got the chance to lead his side to a title when they won the Carling Cup.

For France, Evra was present at the Euro 2008. He played in the 4-1 defeat against the Netherlands after being left out for the first match. At the end of the third match where France experienced defeat at the hands of Italy Evra and Viera went through an altercation in the tunnel.

For the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Evra captained the side in the absence of Thierry Henry who was relegated to the bench. He will lead the much publicized protest against Domenech for having sent Nicolas Anelka back home. As a result Evra was on the bench for the last match where France lost against South Africa.
